Many people believe winter to be the best time to enjoy your hot tub. What could be more blissful the cold British weather than sinking into a steamy, 40 degree hot tub to sooth your aching muscles and warm you up, while enjoying the beauty of the season. Here are a few tips for using and maintaining your spa during the wintertime.
WEAR A HAT WITH YOUR SWIMWEAR
While your body is toasty warm in your spa, the top of your head and ears will feel the winter chill. Wearing a hat with your swimwear may not only set off a fashion trend but also ensure that every part of you stays warm while out in the winter conditions.
HAVE A HOT DRINK READY
What is a winter spa without a warm beverage to sip on? Whether it be a hot chocolate, a coffee or a festive mulled wine. Why not bring out a tray of goodies to keep nearby while you relax.
COVER YOUR SPA
When you are not using your hot tub, make sure to put the cover on to keep the heat in and debris out! It may also be worth checking your cover for leaks and tears to make sure it stays in good condition.
KEEP A CONSISTENT WATER TEMPERATURE
Keeping the water at a consistent, warm temperature is actually more efficient than constantly reheating and helps prevent your pipes from freezing. It also means your spa ready to hop in to at a moment’s notice.
WATCH THE WATER LEVEL
Even in the colder, winter months evaporation will occur. Maintaining a sufficient water level is necessary for the pumps to work correctly. We recommend you keep the water level just below the pillows, making sure all of the jets are covered (except for neck blasters).
HAVE EXTRA SUPPLIES ON HAND
Having a supply of chemicals and accessories needed to maintain your hot tub may save you some extra trips out over the winter, this will be particularly handy if the weather is bad and road conditions are poor.
